The chilly breeze of autumn night whipped strands of hair across my face as I quickened my pace on the sidewalk. I knew my time was running short. I had only an hour before my parents would return home from their night out at the movies, before they would know that I had snuck out to God knows where.
My good mood only lasted until I reached the venue where the band was playing tonight. It was at one of the most notoriously dingy bars in LA which I had never stepped foot in before. From the credible stories that I had heard about this particular place, I was sorely tempted to skip the assignment and go home.
The next three days passed rather normally for me, except my days were spent mostly with Emma, Jared and Tomo. Since that uncomfortable incident on the rooftop, I rarely bumped into Shannon. According to Emma, he would show up when it involved matters of the band, or from my perspective, when I was not around. I decided not to let it get to me, so I pushed him into the nether regions of my mind, and focused on getting to know the rest of the band.
Without making a single sound, I put on my thickest sweater and left Emma sound asleep in the room. It was only 3am, but after that nightmare, it was impossible for me to go back to sleep. Enjoying the morning breeze was something that I really needed to put my mind at ease.
